What is gun coating?

Gun Kote (KG) is the standard protective metal coating and finish of choice for gun experts worldwide. Impact-resistant and solvent-resistant, gun kote enables firearms to perform better even under the harshest situations.  The self-lubricating properties of the gun kote finish prevent your firearm’s system from seizing and aid in diffusing the heat produced by gunshots. KG is known for the protection and dry film lubrication of firearms reducing damage caused by friction and weathering.  Firearms accumulate a lot of dirt from everyday use and KG protects your guns from gathering dirt and dust and allows easier cleaning and maintenance.  It has excellent abrasion, corrosion and impact resistance and is a great level of protection for your firearms.

Gun Kote is a phenolic resin that is designed to be applied by spraying on and then thermally cured at temperatures between 150°C – 162°C. The resulting coat is 0.00762 to 0.0127 mm thick but is tougher than bluing and has the hardness greater than 9H. It is abrasion resistant, chemical and corrosion resistant and has lubricity.
